Malik Cutlar’s practice focuses on business litigation and employment cases. He routinely handles a variety of matters including: Title VII cases (sexual harassment, retaliation, race, gender, age and national origin discrimination), FLSA and FMLA cases, and breach of contract claims involving non-competition agreements, business disputes, and intellectual property disputes. Mr. Cutlar also provides advice and counsel related to employee policies and procedures, employee handbooks, executive compensation and contracts, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, severance agreements, and the protection of corporate intellectual property.

Mr. Cutlar has served as lead counsel representing a number of corporate clients, from small businesses to Fortune 500 Companies, in both federal and state court litigation and routinely practices in federal and state courts in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland. Mr. Cutlar’s client representation has included a broad spectrum of industries such as: government contracting, export manufacturing, construction, the food service industry, medical offices, not-for-profits, computer technology, real estate, venture capital, fund-raising, and human resource capital.

In addition to litigating cases, since 2007 Mr. Cutlar has been a Judicial Council of Virginia Court Certified Mediator and has successfully mediated dozens of court referred cases, federal EEO cases, and private sector employment disputes. Mr. Cutlar has also written articles on employment law matters for various publications, including the Washington Business Journal and been named as an expert witness on executive compensation in severance packages. Additionally, as a faculty member for the American Management Association, Mr. Cutlar has provided training to business executives and human resource managers regarding numerous employment law matters.

A graduate of Cornell Law School, Mr. Cutlar has been named a “Super Lawyer” by Law & Politics magazine; named by American Lawyer Media as a “Top Rated Lawyer in Labor & Employment” and as a “Washington, DC Top Rated Lawyer;” named as a “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business Magazine for Labor & Employment Law; and, has received an AV Peer Review Rating of Preeminent (the highest rating level) in Labor & Employment and Business Law.

Prior to joining PCT Law Group, Mr. Cutlar was a partner at a Northern Virginia law firm; served three years as an Administrative Law Judge for the New York City Department of Finance; and was a trial attorney for four years in the Department of Justice.
